My first excursion on a week night left me impressed with this chic hamburger spot. There was a full dining room, yet it was quiet and inviting. Our party enjoyed

Oh! the clientelel Handsome men and attractive women (I'm not called Ambi Bambi for nothing): On first perusal I was prepared to rate this place highly.
But what about the complaints I had heard concerning Norton's? So I went back on a Saturday night. I couldn't believe it. The bambience was that of a high
school cafeteria! It was so noisy. and from the kitchen we could
hear the rattle and smash of
plates and silverware. There was a definite difference in the quality of the food and the restaurant
was permeated by an unpleasant "food" smell. Members of my party who had never been to Norton's before said they would never return
The interior of the restaurant is rather stark. Decorated with a canavian look, it is at once Dot: c yet cold. I would suggest that if more plants were hung, it would create a more intimate and inviting atmosphere. In the absence of plants, some scenic paintings would add conviviality.
Our waiter an waitress were
informative and friendly. Too friendly. In fact, almost pushy. We were given no time to look at the menu and our server (sic) came to us at least three times
before we were ready to order. And it seemed no sooner did we get the last morsel of food in our mouths that our plants were
whisked away.
I personally had a run-in with
my waiter. When he brought my
sliced beef out it was so rare that I thought I saw it twitch. I asked him to take it back and have it
cooked more and he told me that he was sorry, but he couldn't do that I mean now really, please! Sol simply said that I was getting sick just looking at it and couldn't

eat it. My waiter then said he would take it back, but couldn't promise anything. Luckily, (for Norton's), my meat was cooked to my satisfaction.
The menu is quite basic salads, sandwiches, omelettes. burgers, and desserts. There are usually specialties of the day such as soup and or other dishes, not listed on the menu. Menu selections are given cutesy names with a brief description of the item. Fare taste-tested
consisted of the French Dip Sandwich (sliced roast beef),
Norton's and Ski Haus Burgers (swiss cheese with bacon, and mushrooms with sour cream, respectively) and the Vegetarian. Ratatouille, and Potato & More Omelettes. Sandwiches come with a Norton's salad which consists of lettuce (slightly wilted). cabbage, tomato (traditional winter wedge), croutons, and shredded mozzarella.
sampled were very good: The sandwiches and burgers recommend them. But stay away from the omelettes. Their routine is cooking a plain omelette then filling it with vegetables and/or whatever and folding it over. How tacky!
Desserts are delicious, yet runof-the-mill. Those inhaled were the Cookie Monster (enough for two), Hot Fudge and Strawberry Sundaes. Perhaps a bit heavy on the "whipped cream," they are nonetheless good. Nothing less than Haagen-Dazs and Pierre's French Vanilla Ice Creams are
used.
I am ambivalent about Norton's. They do a brisk trade (please, no jokes) so they must nave something going for them. One East-sider told me there are few restaurants in that area.
Since I live in the lovely Gay Bay region--otherwise known as the Tin Coast--I can neither confirm nor deny this.
So, while this isn't a positive review, neither is it a negative one. And, I don't suppose the managers of Norton's really care what I think. They're doing a good amount of business.

After the show, I was able :0 conduct a Bambi interview w... one of Claudette's Gents, Greg Lovejoy (hot! hot! hot!!! met at New Dimensions Friday night!). Greg also shared a number with the "totally hot" Jenifer. He explained the work that goes into a show and how the people involved, especially those behin the scenes. give of themselves to make each performance a supreme effort
Despite low attendance. the energy level was high, as always is a Mist-A-Henry's. Even Henry was seen doing the bump and grind with GEAR Foundation secretary Carl Hammond Thanks to everyone who gave of their time for this worthy cause...

The show entitled "Musical
Queens," was presented by the colorful and comedic Lady 2. one of the most versatile entertainers in the Cleveland area. Specializing in musical comedy routines, Lady Z's timing was expert in both the planned routines and in the improvised ban-
ter with the audience.
In the opening number Lady Z introduced three performers in Orca by joining them in an elabothe show, Heather, Lola, and rate "can-can" number, complete with dazzling costumes that looked right out of 19th century Paris.
The next number spotlighted the four male dancers: Jeff, Don, Tom, and Mike. The presence of these talented gentlemen added
a
special touch so often missing in other shows. They complemented the other performers beautifully.
The ever-popular Twiggy, long absent from the show scene, made a special appearnce for Lady Z and showed characteristic wit and charm.
The show included 20 numbers in all. Costumens and choreography were by Jim Scott, and also directed the diverse program, which ranged from sensuous and torchy solos to colorful extravaganzas featuring the entire cast.
The 620 Club had not staged a show in over two years until Lady Z came along. The delight and enthusiasm of the men and women of the audience was evident that night and fortunately another show is scheduled for May 18 when Lady Z presents "Let's Do It Again."
The 620 Club is located at 620 Frankfort Ave. NW.
Adam & Yves
A comedy series about two "upper-middle-class, middleaged gay men" is under development by the ABC television network, according to a report in Panorama magazine. The series, entitled Adam and Yves, was scheduled to go into production in early Mar. n.
The series' creators, Danny Arnold and Chris Hayward, said the idea came from the success in this country of the French film La Cage aux Folles, as well as from the general acceptance of gay characters on the television programs Barney Miller and Soap (Arnold is co-creator and executive producer of Barney Miller).
